Business:
Headquartered just outside Seattle, SafeWorks, LLC ("Safeworks") is a leading global manufacturer and distributor of powered suspended access and safety solutions. SafeWorks was formed in 1997, but its products have a history that date back over 60 years. It has a leading market position, recognized brands and outstanding management team. SafeWorks is the recognized North American leader in providing powered suspended access solutions to the non-residential construction space and the wind energy industry.
Transaction:
Wynnchurch partnered with the company's management team and acquired the company from a group of high net worth investors in August 2006.
Opportunity:
The former owners of the business had held their investment for almost 10 years and were looking for a liquidity event after enduring a cyclical downturn. Wynnchurch identified SafeWorks as a niche market leader that could grow into new end markets with the support of a knowledgeable capital partner which the prior ownership group was unwilling to support.
Strategy:
Wynnchurch is working with management to invest in new products and distribution channels, as well as new end markets that can benefit from SafeWorks unique technical and engineering expertise.
