Case Studies

Since our inception, Wynnchurch has made several investments, helped management achieve their vision, and companies to realize their full potential.  Presented below are just a few examples of the types of investments Wynnchurch Capital has made since 1999.  To learn more, please explore the case studies below.

4Front Engineered Solutions, Inc.

In October 2006 Wynnchurch Capital (“Wynnchurch”) acquired SPX Dock Products from SPX Corporation and renamed it 4Front Engineered Solutions, Inc. ("4Front").  4Front, a leading manufacturer of loading dock equipment, resulted from the combination of two companies (Kelly and Serco) that started in the 1950s.

AxleTech International

Our investment in this Troy, MI-based maker of heavy-duty axles has been characterized by Wynnchurch partner John Hatherly as a "cooperative disposition" in which we helped achieve results for AxleTech far beyond what their corporate parent envisioned for them.

Henniges Automotive, Inc.

Henniges was formed as a result of the combination of two competing vehicle sealing suppliers, Metzler North America and GDX Automotive.  In September 2007, Wynnchurch acquired the North American operations of Metzeler from its distressed European parent.

United States Pipe and Foundry Company, LLC

Wynnchurch Capital acquired U.S. Pipe and Foundry Company, LLC (“U.S. Pipe” or the “Company”) in April 2012. U.S. Pipe was a non-core division of Mueller Water Products (NYSE: MWA) that was underperforming.
